These days I'm pretty much technology agnostic I think. There are some strong advantages to using certain tools early on, such as Rails for rapid application developlment. You always end up at the same point though: making sure your code is clean, not breaking stuff, etc. Microsoft has a lot of programmers around the US that use it, so in many places it's easier to hire C# people than Java. Here in SF, Java beats out the .NET crew I'm thinking.
